磷脂(Phospholipids)是含有磷酸基團的兩親分子(amphiphilic molecules)，既是生物膜(biological membranes)的重要組成部分，又是許多生物途徑中的重要信號傳遞劑。磷脂酸（Phosphatidic acid , PA）是最簡單的磷脂，由甘油主鍊(glycerol backbone)和連接在碳1和2上的脂肪酸以及與碳3結合的磷酸基團組成。磷脂酸（Phosphatidic acid , PA）是合成更複雜的磷脂（如磷脂酰膽鹼 (phosphatidylcholine)，磷脂酰乙醇胺(phosphatidylethanolamine)）的前體。磷脂酰絲氨酸(phosphatidylserine)作為質膜(plasma membrane)的結構成分。磷脂酸(Phosphatidic acid)本身存在於質膜(plasma membrane)中，使該膜具有高曲率(high curvature)和淨負電荷(net negative charge)。另外，它是重要的信號脂質。它通過G蛋白偶聯受體(G-protein coupled receptor)起作用，並參與生長調節(growth regulation)和有絲分裂(mitosis)。 BioVision的磷脂酸檢測試劑盒(BioVision’s phosphatidic acid assay kit, k748)是一種基於板的酶檢測法 (plate-based enzymatic assay)，用於定量檢測細胞和組織中的PA磷脂酸（Phosphatidic acid , PA）。 PA Converter水解 PA磷脂酸（Phosphatidic acid , PA）形成中間體，在存在顯影劑和酶混合物的情況下，該中間體將非螢光探針轉換為可以定量的螢光產物（Ex / Em = 535/587 nm）。轉換器對PA具有特異性，不會水解其他磷脂（例如具有更複雜head groups的磷脂，例如磷脂酰膽鹼(phosphatidylcholine)或心磷脂(cardiolipin)），可直接定量PA磷脂酸（Phosphatidic acid , PA）。該試劑盒每孔可檢測低至40 pmol PA(Phospholipids)。
