Chemotherapy agent, induces DNA strand break
硫酸博來黴素 (BLENOXANE®) 是由輪枝鏈黴菌菌株(streptomyces verticillus)產生的細胞毒性糖肽抗生素(cytotoxic glycopeptide antibiotics)的混合物。已知該成分通過接近金屬(metals)和配位分子氧(coordinate dioxygen)來產生活性物質，從而導致 DNA 中的單鍊和/或雙鏈斷裂(single and/ or double-stranded breaks)。硫酸博來黴素(Hodgkin’s lymphoma) 處理通過抑制 DNA 和蛋白質合成導致大腸桿菌細胞伸長和 HeLa 細胞增大 [1]。
該成分與多柔比星(doxorubicin)聯合治療霍奇金淋巴瘤(Hodgkin’s lymphoma)、睾丸癌(squamous cell carcinomas)、鱗狀細胞癌(squamous cell carcinomas)、肺纖維化(pulmonary fiborosis)以及足底疣(plantar warts)的治療廣泛使用。例如，硫酸博來黴素(Bleomycin sulfate)也被證明具有對勞斯肉瘤病毒誘導的小鼠腹水肉瘤有中度至顯著影響，特別是當 F1 雜交小鼠用作宿主動物時 [2]。此外，最近的研究支持促炎細胞因子 IL-18(proinflammatory cytokines IL-18) 和 IL-1beta 在硫酸博來黴素(bleomycin sulfate)誘導的人和小鼠肺損傷機制中的作用 [3]。
