膜(membrane)提取物通常是研究膜蛋白(membrane proteins)及其相互作用(interactions)的第一步。所得製劑可直接用於蛋白質印跡(Western blotting)、斑點印跡(Dot blot)、免疫沉澱(Immunoprecipitation)，或作為純化特定蛋白質的起點。細胞質(Cytoplasm)提取物的製備通常是研究細胞質蛋白及其相互作用的第一步。所得製劑可直接用於蛋白質印跡(Western blotting)、電泳遷移率變動分析 (Electrophoresis Mobility Shift Assay, EMSA)、足跡分析(footprinting analysis)、轉錄分析(transcription assays)，或作為純化調節蛋白(regulatory proteins)的起點。The Abbkine ExKine™ 膜(Membrane)和細胞質(Cytoplasmic Protein)蛋白提取試劑盒能夠從哺乳動物培養的細胞或組織中逐步分離和製備非變性(non-denatured)、活性的細胞質(active cytoplasmic)和膜蛋白(membrane protein)，可直接用於各種蛋白質體學(proteomics application)應用。細胞首先通過勻漿(homogenization)破碎以釋放細胞溶質(cytosolic)和膜蛋白(membrane proteins)，然後通過高速離心獲得膜蛋白。提取效率和產量將根據細胞類型以及整合膜蛋白跨越脂質雙層(lipid bilayer)的次數而有所不同。
