精胺酸(Arginine)是人體和動物體內的半必需胺基酸(semi-essential amino acid )。它參與蛋白質的合成代謝以及體內多胺(polyamines)和一氧化氮(nitric oxide)的合成，發揮重要的生理作用。精胺酸(Arginine)具有降低血壓(lowering blood pressure)的作用。在體內，精胺酸(arginine)可以分解為一氧化氮(nitric oxide)。一氧化氮(nitric oxide)可以舒張血管壁平滑肌( smooth muscle )，調節血管彈性(elasticity)，並修復血管內膜( endometrium)。精胺酸(Arginine)可以刺激和誘導腎上腺素分泌，從而降低血糖，減少體內脂肪酸的生成，並將高血糖患者的血糖降至正常水平。 CheKine™ 微量精胺酸（Arg）含量檢測試劑盒(CheKine™ Micro Arginine (Arg) Content Assay Kit, KTB1411)可用於檢測動物和植物組織( plant tissues)、細菌(bacteria)、細胞(cells)、血漿( plasma)、血清(serum)或其他液體樣本等生物樣本。試劑盒中，精胺酸(Arginine)在鹼性介質中與α-萘酚和2,3-丁二酮反應生成紅色產物，該產物在525 nm處具有特徵吸收峰。透過測量該波長的吸光度即可計算精胺酸(Arginine)的含量。
