白血球介素1β (Interleukin 1 beta ,IL-1β)，又稱白血球致熱原(leukocytic pyrogen)、白血球內源性介質( leukocytic endogenous mediator)、單核細胞激素( mononuclear cell factor)、淋巴球活化因子等，是白血球介素1細胞激素家族的成員。此細胞激素(cytokine) 是發炎反應的重要介質，參與多種細胞活動，包括細胞增殖(cell proliferation)、分化(differentiation)和凋亡。已有報導表明，IL-1β可誘導A549細胞產生IL-8。為檢測IL-1β的生物活性，將A549細胞以1×10⁶個/mL的密度接種於24孔板中，過夜培養使其貼壁後，以不同濃度（0.1 ng/mL至1000 ng/mL）的IL-1β處理24小時，並以ELISA法測定細胞中上清液中IL-8的濃度。如圖1所示，IL-1β刺激後A549細胞上清液中IL-8水準顯著升高。
Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) also known as leukocytic pyrogen, leukocytic endogenous mediator, mononuclear cell factor, lymphocyte activating factor and other names, is a member of the interleukin 1 family of cytokines. This cytokine is an important mediator of the inflammatory response, and is involved in a variety of cellular activities, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. It has been reported that IL-1β can induced IL-8 production in A549 cells. To test the bioactivity of IL-1β, A549 cells were seeded into 24-well plate at a density of 1×106 cells/mL, and allowed to attach overnight before treated with certain concentrations (0.1ng/mL-1000ng/mL) of IL-1β for 24h and IL-8 levels in the cell supernatant were determined by ELISA. IL-8 levels in the cell supernatant of A549 cells increased significantly after stimulated with IL-1β have shown in Figure1.
