四碘甲狀腺素（Thyroxine , T4）是診斷甲狀腺功能減退症(hypothyroidism)和甲狀腺功能亢進症(hyperthyroidism)的有用標誌物。甲狀腺功能減退患者的 T4 水平降低，甲狀腺功能亢進患者的 T4 水平升高。四碘甲狀腺素（Thyroxine , T4）ELISA檢測試劑盒是固相競爭性 ELISA 試劑盒。將樣品和 四碘甲狀腺素綴合物添加到塗有抗 四碘甲狀腺素抗體的孔中。樣品中的 T4 與 T4 酶 (HRP) 綴合物競爭結合位點。未結合的 T4 和 T4 酶綴合物被洗滌緩衝液洗掉。添加底物後，顏色的強度與樣品中 T4 的濃度成反比。
正常血清/血漿樣品預計含有 2.37 μg/dl –9.70 μg/dl T4。建議每個實驗室為所測試的樣品建立預期值範圍。
