嗜酸性粒細胞趨化因子（ECF）可以通過鈣離子載體吞噬作用，花生四烯酸和磷脂酶A2從人多形核嗜中性粒細胞（PMN），大鼠單核和大鼠肥大細胞釋放。目前提出諸如離子載體和吞噬事件的刺激導致花生四烯酸的產生，隨後由脂氧合酶樣酶轉化成ECF。趨化因子（C-C基序）配體11（CCL11）是屬於CC趨化因子家族的小細胞因子，也稱為嗜酸性粒細胞趨化因子-1。
