L1 is a myristoylated, transmembrane protein found on the surface of the mature virion that plays a key role in the formation of infectious virus. L1 is conserved in all orthopoxviruses, and its sequence is almost identical among vaccinia virus, Variola virus and monkeypox virus. |

This Fab has been shown to bind to four long loops that connect the 4-helix bundle at the tip of L1, in an orientation that is very similar to that of the antibody 7D11. In addition, this Fab has been used in biolayer interferometry (BLI)-based assays. | |
