Figure 2. CF®488A is much more photostable than FITC. HeLa cells were stained with CF®488A phalloidin or FITC phalloidin and imaged at time zero, or after 5 seconds of exposure to excitation through a FITC filter set. FITC photobleaches almost immediately, while CF®488A is highly photostable.
